- Just a slight correction: MFC does not come with 5.0. 5.0 can *compile*
- MFC, but Microsoft would not license the MFC source to Borland.
-
- Anyway, 4.5->5.0 seems like much more of an upgrade than 4.0->4.5 was. If
- you look at the fetaure-set of 5.0, there are some significant changes (not
- to mention state-of-the-art C++ support---as usual, I might add). That, by
- itself, is almost enough to make me upgrade. But, I also look forward to
- the new multithreaded, 32-bit IDE, etc..
-
- I don't work for Borland, but it just seems to me like everyone wants soft-
- ware for free or something. As if it doesn't cost Bolrand any money to
- develop new versions! We, software developers, of all people, know this
- is definitely not the case.
-
- As far as price goes, $200 may or may not be reasonable depending on how
- much the new version delivers. I'm suspecting that it will deliver and that
- I will not be unhappy spending $200.
-
- AND...
-
- A recent copy of the "Provantage" software catalog even said something about
- a $100 rebate from Borland for 4.5 owners and listed the net price at about
- $120. I don't think that price is anything to whine about.
-
- IMO,
